Convocation 2017

Annual Convocation Ceremony – 18th March, 2017

Convocation ceremony marks an important transition in the life of a student. Transition from a learner to a practitioner, follower to a leader and an amateur to an adept. PGDM & MMS students of Chetana’s Institutes of Management made their transition at the Annual Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, 18 March, 2017.

The grand ceremony, wherein the students became the alumni of their alma mater, was graced by well-known personalities, Dr Kshama Fernandes, CEO and MD, IFMR Capital, as Chief Guest and Dr Uday Nirgudkar, Chief Editor, Zee 24 Taas as Keynote Speaker.

The ceremony was made special by the presence of proud parents of the meritorious students who were felicitated.

The convocation started with a brief report of the institutes. Director of CRKIMR, Dr. Jayashree Bhakay emphasised on the good academic record and referred to the prestigious Khandelwal Case Study Competition being hosted by the institute. Director of CIMR, Dr. K. C. Pandey spoke about the positive increase in the average salary in the present year and referred that our students had won the prestigious Dandekar Trophy.

CEO Dr. Madhumita Patil welcomed the proud parents, the toppers and the graduating batch wishing them a special day and declared the ceremony open.

Hon’ble Secretary of Chetana Trust, Shri Shirish Chaudhari and Hon’ble President of Chetana Trust, Shri Shridatta Haldankar congratulated the graduating batch. Shri Shirish Chaudhari exhorted students to ‘go out of the world of Chetana with flying colours and keep the name of Chetana high.’ Shri Haldankar assured students that ‘all the honest and brilliant efforts made by you will not go unrecorded and unrecognised.’ He wished that they make their mark in the world of business.

Dr Nirgudkar who struck an instantaneous cord with the students urged them to dream, as it is our biggest strength. He exhorted the students to always take the ethical path and said, “Often there are two paths: one path is right and other is wrong. Wrong path would be attractive, lucrative, shorter and glamorous but the longer route is the best.”

Dr. Kshama congratulated the students and spoke about the importance of taking risks in life. She quoted Franklin Roosevelt, ‘we cannot always build a future for youth, we can build a youth for the future’ and added that the last two years that you spent here is a part of that preparation for your future. She asked the students to think about a few important questions – ‘Are we doing the best while we have the time? Are we spending time to do whatever it takes to do to value our lives? What can we do to maximize the value of life? While aiming for value maximization over time in life, are we checking whether we are going in the right direction or not?’ She asked the students to take care of their health and added, “a fit body preserves a fit mind.”

The ceremony reached a crescendo when the presidential award, in memory of Founder President Late Shri Madhukarrao Chaudhari, for the best academic performance, was presented to Parashar Tendulkar (MMS) and Pooja Doshi (PGDM).

The ceremony ended on a grand note with the national anthem.
