Jagruti – Ek Vishwas

Social responsibility is one of Chetana’s core missions. This is a task that has involved all the people who have formed part of Chetana’s for over 45 years now. At Chetana’s Institute Of Management and Research, we are committed to groom managers and leaders and more importantly responsible citizens of the society. Therefore, social responsibility is not a new dimension but rather a part of Chetana’s DNA, which has existed since the inception of the Trust. The social responsibility cell, christened “Jagruti- Ek Vishwas”- symbolizes the effort of Chetana’s commitment to social causes. The objective during the Academic Year 2015-16, the students participated in various activities/events designed to raise awareness about social issues among students and the society. Some of the activities that were carried out include:

  1. Conducting activities that would raise awareness levels among students, faculty and the society in general related to environment- Water conservation campaigns and waste management campaigns were under taken in primary schools, housing societies etc.
  2. Organizing awareness campaign of heath related issues such as organ donation –Members of the Zonal Organ Donation Coordination Committee spoke to students about organ donation, the myths associated with it and the need for spreading awareness about the same.
  3. Students in groups of 12-20 spent at least 10-12 hours during the course of a semester on socially responsible activities such as spending time in volunteering/community service with an NGO. This helped in sensitizing students to the social problems in the society and contributing to their alleviation in a small but significant manner.
