Dr. Sivaprasad Murugan
Dr Sivaprasad Murugan, Associate Professor at Chetana’s R K IMR for General-Management & Finance is a well-regarded management and leadership educator, with over two decades of academic and administrative experience. He is presently handling the responsibility of NBA coordinator and in-charge of Examination.
An academician by choice, this former defence-aspirant, chose the path of management education and proved his acumen as an effective educator and able academic-administrator in the course of various positions of responsibility and leadership handled by him throughout his career.
His academic qualifications are a B.Sc. in Physics, MMS in Finance, and Ph.D. in Business Policy & Administration, all from University of Mumbai. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Comparative Mythology from University of Mumbai. A former Flight-Cadet, who was selected to be a Flying-Officer in the Indian Air Force, he is an ardent believer in discipline and empathy, as cornerstones of leadership.
Having started his academic journey with SIES college of Commerce and Economics, in 2002, he has had the unique opportunity to handle teaching and academic administration at almost all the levels of education, right from schooling to post graduation as well as executive MBA programs.
He has been part of Chetana Parivar since 2002 and, headed Chetana’s Self-Financing Section, as Chief-Coordinator, till June 2018. He played a key role in the overall development and expansion of the Chetana’s Self-Financing Section and was the main architect for introducing new courses like B.M.M. and B.Sc.IT. He was a key member of the NAAC steering committee and played a pivotal role in the NAAC re-accreditation of Chetana’s H S College in 2017.
He has to his credit a successful overseas-assignment in the Middle-East, where he was with the ‘Indian School Salalah’, in Oman, as VP-Academics, in academic year 2018-19. In the course of this assignment, he worked on areas of Policy making, Restructuring and Cultural Turn-around.
He has been part of many committees of Mumbai University as subject-expert, examiner, moderator, paper-setter and chairman. He also recently served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), with the ‘Maharashtra State CET Cell’ under Directorate of Technical Education, Govt of Maharashtra, for conducting admission to MMS/MBA for 2109-20.
He is also an established trainer, who has conducted training workshops in areas of Leadership, Stress Management, Harmony and Institutional Communication for organisations like the Mumbai Port Trust, Ordinance Factory Board, Schneider and many Academic Institutions.
His key subject interests include General management, Managerial Communication, International Finance, Business environment, Environment management and Indian Ethos in management.
His hobbies include Aero-modeling, Off-roading, and Reading. An ardent reader, his reading interests include Leadership, Innovative-Management, Entrepreneurship, Mythology, Literature, Military technology & Strategic Affairs.
